通訊 ─ 2011年9月6日
親愛的家長、老師與同學們:
相信大家都享受了一個愉快又充實的暑假。在這個新的學年，學校也作了一些調整。由於個人或家庭因素，教務主任與幾位教師決定離職。我們非常感謝他們過去的辛勤奉獻也祝福他們未來會更好。在新任教務主任美玲師姐的努力之後，數位新任教師已同意加入教學團隊。他們都很優秀而且也很熱衷於有機會與我們的學生與家長一起學習。除此之外，參考去年家長與教師的意見，今年教科書也正式改為美洲華語。
今年校務團隊由陳朝東師兄繼續擔任校長。美玲師姐肩負教務主任的重擔，齊君明師兄副校長兼任校務秘書，另外如蘋、婉美、靜嘉與金滿師姐也會襄助教務工作，如果您有任何疑問或建議，請隨時與他們聯絡，我們也很歡迎家長加入學校的志工團隊，一起為孩子們的教育做努力。感恩祝福大家!

教師與學生園地:
• 基於學生安全，所有教師、校務人員與學生請穿著制服，若需要制服者請盡快到學校餐廳向淑蓉師姐洽詢。
• 本學年度開學典禮將於九月十一日第三堂課舉行。
• 本學年度的行事曆已經完成，請參考最後頁。
• 欣逢教師節將至，為了慶祝教師節，新英格蘭中文學校協會特訂於九月二十四日(星期六)上午10點，假波士頓僑教中心(90 Lincoln St., Newton Highlands, MA 02461) 旁體育館舉行「祭孔典禮」，歡迎老師同學們能參加觀禮。另為感謝教師們的辛勞，今年慶祝教師節的聚餐活動，仍由協會負責主辦，波士頓僑教中心協辦。敬請老師們踴躍參加，請有意參加的老師們於九月十一日前告知美玲師姐，謝謝。

• 慈濟美東區教師研習營目前可能預定十月八日在新澤西州舉行，詳情將等日期確定後公佈。
家長園地:
• 上學期第一次懇親會將預定於九月十八日早上11:30舉行，詳細地點將於近期公佈。
• 請尚未完成報名註冊手續的家長們儘速於開學當天(九月十ㄧ日)向註冊組淑蓉師姐辦理。另外根據去年規定，學校會提供學生一件免費制服。因此，今年的新生或從未領過制服的舊生，請向註冊組領取制服；如果是舊生，且已在去年領過制服但需更新者，每件請購價為$10.

• 別人有所成就，我們不要心存嫉妒，應該要起讚歎、歡喜心，這是擁有幸福人生的祕訣。

Dear Parents, Teachers, and Students:
We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful and productive summer. As the 2011-2012 school year approaches, we would like to inform you of some recent changes within the school. A few of our teachers have left due to various personal reasons. We appreciate their past contributions and devotion to the school and wish them well in their future endeavor. Our academic provost Sister Vickie also decided to step down for a well-deserved rest. After Sister Meiling took the helm and made strong recruiting effort, several new teachers have agreed to join our teaching staff. They are all well qualified and passionate about the opportunity to work with our students and parents. Along with our returning teachers, we are confident to have a strong teaching team. Please also note, the textbook has been formerly changed to MZ Chinese with approval from school committee and endorsement from parents and teachers last year.
Changes in school staff this year is minimal. Our academic team has been however enlarged to provide better support to teachers and students in response to the feedback from teachers and parents. We would like to welcome Sister Jinger, Sister JuPing, and Sister Sharon to our team. Sister Vickie also stays on as an advisor to the academic team. If you have any questions or suggestions please discussed with any school staff member, we will be happy to hear from you. Thank you.

Campus–September Highlights:
• 9/4 - Labor day no class. Teacher training today.
• 9/11 - September 11th is a regular school day and the school opening ceremony is held during the third period. There are no extracurricular activities today.
• 9/18 - September 19th is a regular school day and extracurricular activities are held after regular class.
• 9/25 - September 25th is a regular school day and extracurricular activities take place after class. A parent/school conference will be held in the second period. September 28th is Confucius’birthday as well as Teacher’s day in Taiwan.
Teacher & Student Activities:
• All teachers, staff, and students should wear their uniforms. Whoever needs uniform please check with Sister Jennifer in school cafeteria ASAP.
• The 2011-2012 school year opening ceremony will be held during third period on 9/11.
• The 2011-2012 school year calendar is available. Please see the last page.
Tzu Chi Activities:
• Tzu Chi teacher training camp is likely held on 10/8 in New Jersey. Detail information will be provided after the date is confirmed.
Parents Activities:
• The first Parent/Teacher conference of this semester will be held on 9/18 beginning at 11:30AM. Actual location will be announced soon.
• For those who have not registered, please complete the registration with Jennifer Ying on the school opening day (9/11). Last year, we gave away an uniform per student. This year, we will still give away uniforms to new students or returning students who did not receive an uniform last year. Please ask for one from Jennifer Ying. If a returning student who received the uniform last year, but needs a new one this year, please purchase at $10 per uniform.
• There are some changes in the selection of extracurricular classes (Recorder class was cancelled and Calligraphy is added for students of six years older). Students who have not selected or want to change their selection please fill the class change form. If you still have questions, please check the registration form or see Brother Jeff. Master Cheng Yen’s Teaching and Jing-Si Aphorisms:
• How can we create a peaceful environment for everyone? We must provide a loving environment where everyone shows compassion towards each other.
• Cultivation of compassion and love at a young age can prevent bad behavior later.
• Time is the principle to pursue our every endeavor.
• Life is short and unpredictable, many think nothing but indulge themselves in pursue of – in pursuit of what?
• When we learn of other’s accomplishments, we should praise instead of envy them. This is the secret to leading a happy life.
• If we are grateful towards others, we will be happy even in difficult circumstances.
• If you treat your family and others with compassion and tolerance, the world will be a much better place filled with love and hope.

Get Ready for Hurricane Irene
敬愛的菩薩家人，
虔誠祈禱Hurricane Irene 的影響 降至最輕微。雖然無法預料颶風情況，末學還是以恭敬的心，
1. 請各組長(以水懺共修分組，學長、慈青以leader 為主，家長以校長、副校長為主)
a. 提醒作好個人、家庭的防颱準備。切記"安全第一"
b. 請各組員關懷會員或認識的人; 學校請關懷家長、老師、校務人員
c. 家中如有老人家，請特別留心
d. 通知家長、校務人員、志工家裡可開始接水。待停電停水時可用
e. 如果需要任何協助，請組長回報給末學
2. 末學明天將與MA VOAD (包括FEMA 及紅十字會)
進一步聯絡，也許會有救災行動。請各組長徵詢組員(
