A message from Tzu Chi Academy:
All of us at the Chinese school - teachers, students, and parents - feel much sympathy for the families and their community in Newtown, CT for their loss last Friday. Thank you all so much for having so much love for these people in mourning.
Some of the students may feel insecure about life. Seeing such a tragedy can make people unsure about personal safety and what dangers that may cross their paths. Unfortunately, it is true that anything can happen in life and we can't be prepared for everything; but fortunately, we know that life isn't just about the bad things. Life has so many good things as well. Anything can happen, but that also includes all the great things that we love and enjoy. Let's remember those good things - family, community, love - and leave our fears behind.
Also, when we embrace and share all those good things, we are building stronger ties, making people feel more loved. We don't know what prompted the gunman to commit that awful crime last Friday, but when we reach out more, we can stop someone making a terrible decision before it happens. Although we are not expert on this matter, we would like to offer our support and care. We also suggest you to talk to your school counselors who may answer your questions more specifically. More importantly, if you feel like hugging your parents, friends or someone dear to you, please do so for giving each other love and care.
Wish you a most beloved Christmas and New Year!!
