近來天氣逐漸轉涼,日照時間也逐漸減短,除提醒大家注意行車走路的安全,也請大家要注意身體保健及準時上課的重要。十月三十日學校因風雪停課一次,行事曆若有變更,學校會在確定後再通知大家。

• 十一月十九日本校部份家長、老師與同學們將代表波士頓慈濟人文學校參與慈濟基金會中國城養老院探訪活動。這是今年學校為加強人文道德教育,以身教代言教的一系列社區服務活動。我們非常感恩家長、老師與同學們在百忙之中的熱心配合,也期許同學們能體會到「老吾老以及人之老」的意義。有興趣的家長和老師請與林毓雅師兄聯繫(tatabox2@gmail.com)。感恩您!

• 學校校舍租用時間僅到中午十二時三十分為止,非必要下課後請大家按時離開以利校工清理環境。感恩您們的合作。

• 儘管上次的愛給南非學子的活動相當成功,但是需要協助的南非學子人數眾多,因此慈濟基金會與人文學校將再度合作舉辦南非贈書活動,為南非的學童們提供更多的書籍文具和玩具,歡迎大家一同響應捐贈文具及英文書籍來幫助他們學習 (請參酌附件1與附件2)。
A) 書的種類:限英文書籍,幼兒至高中程度均可(不要雜誌類等),書的狀況要良好(完整的封面,不要有破損或缺頁的)
B) 文具:如鉛筆、彩色筆或蠟筆、橡皮擦、空白活頁筆記本等 (不要自動鉛筆)
C) 小型填充玩具 Stuffed Animal:新的或是看起像是沒有用過的,4-6寸高左右,手掌可托拿的。
D) 益智性玩具
家長園地:
• 由於與JGM的活動撞期,十二月十八日學校將無法使用餐廳和體育館,明年一月二十二日必須於十一時四十五分前騰出餐廳。學校對所造成不便向您說聲抱歉。感恩您的合作!
• 由於天氣漸冷,最近有些麻州的公立學校開始在流行頭蝨,請家長和老師們提醒同學們良好衛生習慣的重要,並注意同學們有無類似頭蝨的症狀。謝謝您!

Tzu-Chi Academy, Boston
Dear Parents, Teachers, and Students:
As the temperature is falling and daylight period is shrinking, we urge all of you to be mindful about the safety of driving and walking. We also want to remind you of the importance of healthy habits and punctuality for classes. Daylight saving time ends this Sunday. The school was cancelled on 10/30 due to snowstorm. Any changes to the school calendar will be announced once decisions are reached.
Reminders and Highlights:
• On 11/19, some of TCAB parents, teachers, and students will join Tzu Chi Foundation’s visit to a Chinatown nursing home. This is one of the activities planned this year in the school’s humanity education initiatives. We appreciate the efforts made by our parents, teachers and students. If anyone is interested in the nursing home visit on 11/19, please contact Jeff Lin at tatabox2@gmail.com. Thank you
• The school is officially close at 12:30 PM. Please do not stay after school to interfere with the custodian’s preparation for Monday regular classes. Thank you for your cooperation.
Campus–November Highlights:
• 11/13 – November 13th is a regular school day and extracurricular activities take place after class. Midterm today.
• 11/20 – November 20th is a regular school day and extracurricular activities take place after class. Parent-teacher conference today.
• 11/27 – No class in observance of Thanksgiving holiday.
Teacher & Student Activities:
• All teachers, staff, and students should wear their uniforms. Whoever needs uniform please check with Sister Jennifer at school cafeteria ASAP.
• Parents or students please check the teacher’s blog on school web site for information if you have questions.
Tzu Chi Activities:
• Tzu Chi remains committed to assist those underprivileged students in South Africa. Beginning this month, Tzu Chi Foundation and Tzu Chi Academy will be collecting books for K-12 students in South Africa (please see attachment 1 and attachment 2 for details). Many of these South African students do not have the money or the resources to meet their educational needs and really need your help! Many of them are orphans and rely on their local orphanages for their necessities. Any donations will benefit them greatly. The following items are requested for donation:
Books:K-12 level, English only. The books should have a cover and in at least mint condition. (No magazines)
School supplies: pencils, color pencils, crayons, erasers, notebooks, etc. (No mechanical pencils please)
Stuffed animals, in either new or mint condition, 4-6” long preferred.
Educational Toys
If you are interested in making a donation, please drop the items off at the school cafeteria or local Tzu-Chi office. The collected items will be delivered to students in South Africa in the spring of 2012 through Tzu-Chi volunteers from the US and South Africa. We hope to help as many students as possible with this drive. For more information, please contact the local Tzu-Chi office at (617) 762-0569. Thank you for your time and generosity!
Parents Activities:
• Due to scheduled events at JGM, we will have no access to the cafeteria and gym on 12/18/11 while have to vacate from the cafeteria by 11:45 PM on 1/22/12. We still have access to all the regular classrooms. We apology for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.
• Temperature is falling and head lice are coming. Students in some Massachusetts public schools have recently been found to infect with head lice. Parents and teachers please remind students of the importance of personal hygiene and check the students for head lice periodically. Thank you

• We should be confident but not arrogant or egocentric. The important thing is to contribute our spare time and ability to benefit the community.
