通訊 ─ 2011年9月25日
親愛的家長、老師與同學們:
本週日將舉行這學期第一次家長座談會，這次座談會的主要目的首先是要瞭解家長對慈濟人文學校的期望與建議，其次是確立家長與學校之間未來的溝通管道，最後是說明學校在未來一年的計畫與目標。。
慈濟人文學校就像是一個大家庭，由許許多多不同的家庭個人所組成。雖然每個家庭或個人可能有不同的文化、語言、宗教、國籍等等，但是學校自豪也很珍惜這樣的多樣性，學校也會嘗試瞭解並尊重每個家庭或個人的差異與權益。如果任何同學在學習或行為上有遭遇疑難，希望家長或同學隨時向老師或校務人員反映，學校會在尊重隱私權的前提下盡力協助，不足之處，要請家長和同學們多多善解包容。感恩您!
校園花絮 – 九、十月份行事曆
• 9/25 - 正常上課日。第三堂課課外活動。9/28孔子誕辰及教師節。舞蹈課暫停一次。

• 九月二十四日週六下午三時的古典音樂講座將由本校打擊樂器老師陳志新博士主講認識中世紀音樂，地點在華心藝術學校。陳老師教學認真，學養豐富，歡迎大家前往聆聽。
西方古典音樂的發展可追溯到中世紀，在這個漫長的時期裡音樂在教會的孕育下不斷的成長與發展，從單音音樂到複音音樂，當中包括了很多不同的樂種，此講座會透過不同的音樂例子和說明去幫您了解這個時期的音樂特色，歡迎有興趣者參加！

Dear Parents, Teachers, and Students:
The first parent school conference will be held on 10:30 AM this Sunday 9/25. The main objectives of this conference are for the school to listen to parents’ expectation and suggestions, to establish communication channels with parents, and to lay out the plan and goal for the school year.
Tzu Chi Academy is like a big and diverse family with many differences among its individuals. Each individual may have different cultures, languages, religions, nationalities, etc. Nevertheless, we are proud and cherish such diversities. However, we also understand and respect each individual have his/her unique opinions and values. If any individual encounters difficulties in either learning or interpersonal relationship, please feel free to contact teachers or any school staff for help. School will respect your privacy and try best to resolve your concerns or issues. Thank you.
Campus–September/October Highlights:
• 9/25 - September 25th is a regular school day and extracurricular activities take place after class. A parent/school conference will be held in the second period. September 28th is Confucius’birthday as well as Teacher’s day in Taiwan. Dance class will be cancelled on 9/25 due to teacher schedule conflict.
• 10/2 - October 2nd is a regular school day and extracurricular activities take place after class.
• 10/9 - No school today in observance of Columbus Day
• 10/16 - October 16th is a regular school day and extracurricular activities take place after class.
• 10/23 - October 23rd is a regular school day and extracurricular activities take place after class. A lecture will be held for parents and volunteers at Cafeteria.
• 10/30 - October 30th is a regular school day but no extracurricular activities today. A Halloween celebration and parent children activities will take place instead.
Teacher & Student Activities:
• All teachers, staff, and students should wear their uniforms. Whoever needs uniform please check with Sister Jennifer at school cafeteria ASAP.
• Parents or students please check the teacher’s blog on web site for information if you have questions.

Tzu Chi Activities:
• Boston Tzu Ching/Tzu Shao are inviting all college and high school students, and anyone interested in accompanying Tzu Ching/Tzu Shao; becoming member of their groups; or helping their party to join them on October 1st from 9 AM to 5 PM at Boston Culture Center in Newton MA for their Fall Welcome Orientation Party. This party is a great way to learn more about the groups and their volunteering efforts, and hopefully you will make some new friends! Free, delicious vegetarian breakfast and lunch will be provided. Please feel free to bring your friends; just let Brother Ying or Sister Jennifer (@603-362-2868) know how many of you are coming. Looking forward to seeing all of you!!

• For those who have not registered, please complete the registration with Jennifer Ying. Last year, we gave away a uniform per student. This year, we will still give away uniforms to new students or returning students who did not receive a uniform last year. Please ask for one from Jennifer Ying. If a returning student who received the uniform last year, but needs a new one this year, please purchase at $10 per uniform.
• There are some changes in the selection of extracurricular classes (Recorder class was cancelled and Calligraphy is added for students of six years older). Students who have not selected or want to change their selection please fill the class change form. If you still have questions, please check the registration form or see Brother Jeff. Master Cheng Yen’s Teaching and Jing-Si Aphorisms:
• Compassion does not necessarily have to be expressed by giving others material help. The key is to remain self-contented but not to yearn for material pleasure. Greed will only result in karma and an unhappy life.
• So long as we can rid ourselves of greed and excessive desires, we can have our mind clear and vision afar.
• Pursue your profession with aspiration but not ambition with malicious intent.
• If everyone can rid of their greed and live peacefully with others, we will no longer create karma and devastate our living world. If everyone becomes conscious of the environment in his or her daily life, then everyone will contribute to the healing of our mother Earth,
• Cherish your possessions when you still own them and remain self-contented when you do not.
• Love without prejudices achieves true equality.
• Giving up the present only lead us to regret our past and lost our future

親愛的家長、老師與同學們:
本週日將舉行這學期第一次懇親會，這次懇親會的主要目的是讓老師有機會向家長說明教學目標與傳授方式，同時充分瞭解家長與同學的需求，也讓家長與老師能互相認識，建立未來順暢的溝通管道。校方也體認到目前懇親會的時間安排對部份家長可能造成不便，將會在討論與溝通後，在下次懇親會之前採取適當的改進方案。學校也鼓勵家長與老師們自行安排。
特別重申學校不容許有任何暴力行為發生，希望家長與和老師們要多給同學們愛的叮嚀。為了保障大多數同學的權益，學校對任何違反校規的行為將會依既有規定處理(請參酌附件)。請家長和同學們善解包容。感恩您的合作!

Dear Parents, Teachers, and Students:
The first parent teacher conference will be held on 11:30 AM this Sunday 9/18. The main objectives of this conference are to allow teachers to communicate their goals and approaches to parents and to understand the needs of parents and students. Additionally, this conference provides an opportunity for parents and teachers to establish future communication channels. We recognized the current conference schedule might be inconvenient for parents who have multiple students enrolled. We will discuss with teachers and staff and propose changes to future conference schedule. In the mean time, we welcome parents to discuss with teachers to arrange more convenient schedule.
Any violent behavior will not be tolerated in our school. We plead with our parents and teachers to communicate with our students about the importance and seriousness of proper behavior. For the safety and benefit of our students, school will follow established guidelines (please see attachment) and take necessary measures against any serious misdeeds. We asked for your understanding and patience. Thank you for your cooperation.

• For those who have not registered, please complete the registration with Jennifer Ying. Last year, we gave away a uniform per student. This year, we will still give away uniforms to new students or returning students who did not receive a uniform last year. Please ask for one from Jennifer Ying. If a returning student who received the uniform last year, but needs a new one this year, please purchase at $10 per uniform.
• There are some changes in the selection of extracurricular classes (Recorder class was cancelled and Calligraphy is added for students of six years older). 本週日將舉行這學期第一次懇親會，這次懇親會的主要目的是讓老師有機會向家長說明教學目標與傳授方式，同時充分瞭解家長與同學的需求，也讓家長與老師能互相認識，建立未來順暢的溝通管道。校方也體認到目前懇親會的時間安排對部份家長可能造成不便，將會在討論與溝通後，在下次懇親會之前採取適當的改進方案。學校也鼓勵家長與老師們自行安排。
