親愛的家長、老師與同學們:

時光飛逝下學期又快要接近尾聲了,為製作年度紀念冊,請同學們務必穿著制服,四月二十九日會有愛心爸爸去各班級教室照相。謝謝您的配合!

為慶祝母親節學校將於五月六日第三堂課將舉辦親子活動,希望所有家長、老師與同學們一同參加以表達對母親由衷的敬愛。

重點提醒:

• 台灣傳統週時間五月五日下午十二時至五時,活動地點在僑教中心旁台灣花園,歡迎您參加。慈濟基金會與學校均有志工代表參加。

校園花絮四、五月份行事曆

• 4/29 - 正常上課日。第三堂課課外活動。靜思語繪畫寫作活動最後一天。
• 5/6 - 正常上課日。慈濟人文學校對外開放參觀暨親子活動日。第三堂課親子活動,課外活動暫停一次。
• 5/13 – 母親節。停課一次。
• 5/20 - 正常上課日。第三堂課課外活動。
• 5/27 - 終戰紀念日。停課一次。

教師與學生園地:

• 慈濟基金會將於六月二十三至二十四日在新澤西慈濟會所舉辦教育年會及教師、教育志工與愛心家長訓練,希望大家踴躍參加。有意者請盡速與校務人員聯繫以安排交通、住宿與其他事項。
• 基於維護學生安全,所有教師、校務人員與學生請盡量穿著制服,若需要制服者請盡快到學校餐廳向校務人員洽詢。
• 家長或學生如在學生課業上有任何疑問,請到網路上老師的部落格"查看資料"!
• 新英格蘭中文學校於四月十四日舉辦學生演講比賽,恭賀本校六年級同學李昶毅榮獲國語演講比賽中年級組第一名。

慈濟園地:

• 慈濟基金會波士頓聯絡處將於四月二十八日下午1:00PM - 4:00PM在紐頓市會所舉辦地球日開春大清掃。感恩您前來協助。

• 四月二十九日7:30-9:00PM,慈濟基金會波士頓聯絡處敬邀您與慈濟大林醫院簡守信院長暨大愛醫生館主持人,於紐頓市會所茶敘講座。

• 中華民國僑務委員會為增進海外華裔青(少)年華語文能力、認識傳統中華文化與台灣多元文化,瞭解中華民國進步發展現況,並促進海內外青年互動交流,101年度所舉辦的「海外華裔青年語文研習班」,即日起接受報名。僑委會表示,海外華裔青年語文研習班,限年滿14足歲至24歲之青年報名,計開七個班別,「第一期」研習時間為1月2日至2月12日,「第二期」研習時間為2月27日至4月8日,「第三期」研習時間為4月30日至6月10日,「第五期」研習時間為10月8日至11月18日,「第六期」研習時間為12月10日至2013年1月20日。暑期班計開「第四期」與「暑期青少年班」二個班別,「第四期」限年滿18足歲至24歲之青年報名,研習時間為7月2日至8月12日,「暑期青少年班」則限14歲至未滿18歲之青少年報名,研習時間為7月3日至8月13日,凡目前居住於海外,身心健康、學行良好、有高度學習華語文意願,並能適應團體生活之華裔青(少)年均可報名參加。活動期間,週一至週五安排華語文、民俗技藝、文化研習課程,晚間自行參加晚自習、休閒、知性或網路等輔助課程;週六及週日另彈性安排藝文及青少年遊藝活動。課程內容包括(一)語文教學:華語教學(每週24小時,包括視聽教學2小時)及華文電腦網路課程等。(二)文化采風:包含書法、國畫、童玩、編織、結藝、紙藝、篆刻、扯鈴、中國功夫、民族舞蹈等課程(以上課程由學員依志願自由選修,惟視學員人數多寡調整開班)。(三)晚間活動:安排晚自習、輔助教學或休閒活動等。(四)專題講座或海內外青年聯誼。(五)教學參觀(每週4小時):參觀近郊之文化社教景點,認識台灣的人文歷史與自然生態。(六)寶島攬勝:參觀台灣各項政經文教建設及具台灣寶島特色之名勝古蹟。有關活動詳細內容與申請表格請上僑委會網站下載(www.ocac.gov.tw/華裔青年活動專區/海外華裔青年語文研習班)。由於名額有限,有興趣報名之海外華裔青年請儘速與波士頓華僑文教服務中心報名。該中心電話: 617-965-8801,傳真: 617-965-8815, 地址 : 90 Lincoln street, Newton Highlands, MA 02461。

證嚴上人的叮嚀與靜思語:

• 若再荒蕪的土地,只要有人肯撒種、耕耘,很快就會綠油油地,充滿豐收的生機。

• 如果每個人都有「惜福」觀念,懂得疼惜生命,甚至連一切的物質也能愛惜,社會上就不會有過多的「消費」與「垃圾」問題了

• 若肯用心於日常生活中,則語默動靜無一不是教化。

• 若能用心,道理就在眼前;若不用心,真理就與我們無關。

• 若心思太複雜,凡事顧慮多、煩惱多,本能就無由發揮。

• 做人圓融,事情才能圓滿,人事圓滿,就表示自己真懂道理。

Dear Parents, Teachers, and Students:

Students please wear your uniform on 4/29 for class photo.
Open house and Family fun activity will be held on 5/6. We encourage all parents, teachers, and students to participate in these family fun activities in observation of Mother’s day. Thank you!
Reminders and Highlights:
• Parent-children fun activities will be held on 5/6 after class to express our appreciation to all Mothers.
• We are looking for volunteers for end of year celebration. Please contact Jeff Lin at tatabox2@gmail.com.

• Taiwanese traditional folk art festival will be featured at the park beside the Boston Chinese Cultural Center (Newton) on May 5 from 12PM to 5PM. Everyone is welcome!

Campus–April Highlights:

• 4/29 – April 29 is a regular school day and extracurricular activities take place after class. Jing-Si writing and drawing exhibition.
• 5/6 – May 6 is a regular school day and parent-children activities after class (no extracurricular activities). School open house.
• 5/13 - No school in observance of Mother’s Day
• 5/20 – May 20 is a regular school day and extracurricular activities take place after class.
• 5/27 – No school in observance of Memorial Day

Teacher & Student Activities:

• All teachers, staff, and students should wear their uniforms. Whoever needs uniform please check with school personnel at school cafeteria ASAP.
• Parents or students please check the teacher’s blog on school web site for information if you have questions.

Tzu Chi Activities:

• Tzu Chi Boston service center invite all of you to the Earth Day Cleanup at Tzu Chi Newton office (15 Summer street, Newton, MA) on Saturday 4/28 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

• On April 29 7:30 to 9:00 PM, we cordially invite you to join us to welcome the Superintendent of Tzu Chi Dalin Hospital, Dr. Chien in Tzu Chi Boston service center.

• Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation cordially all of you on May 12, 2:00-4:00 PM to Boston service center to celebrate Buddha Birthday Day, Mother's Day, and Global Tzu Chi Day. The ceremony will begin on 2:00 PM.

Parents Activities:

• Current Students can register 2013 school year beginning on 4/1/12. Those who complete the registration and pay the balance by end of 2012 school year can enjoy a $20 discount. Please submit all completed registration forms to teachers and payment to Sister Jennifer. If you experienced financial hardship, please discuss with Sister Jennifer for tuition assistance. Thank you!
• Did you know washing clothes is the second largest use of indoor water? Combine small loads to eliminate one load per week, and you will save up to 2,100 gallons of water per year. You will save energy, too.
• For safety and security of the students, please notify their language and/or extracurricular teachers if parents decide to leave with them earlier.
• Boston Oversea Chinese culture center offer many study and volunteer opportunities primarily for either young adults & adolescents of Chinese descent, or teachers and parents of Chinese schools overseas. Master Cheng Yen’s Teaching and Jing-Si Aphorisms:

• As long as one is willing to do the hard work, even the most barren land can be transformed into fertile ground that produces plenty harvest.

• If everyone learns to be prudent and cherishes every life and resources, the crisis of overconsumption, waste accumulation, acute pollution, etc. will all be alleviated.

• If you really pay attention and effort in daily life, you will find enlightenments in all the things happened around you.

• If you observe your surrounding carefully, you will realize the truths actually everywhere. Otherwise, you will just be blinded by your own ignorance.

• Making everything overly complicated and worrying about the trivial details will render anyone paralyzed and apprehensive.

• Success can only be achieved only if you know how to manage every members of your team. After you understand the virtue of keeping both people and things in harmony, you have indeed reached enlightenment.
