We hope everyone enjoyed a happy and fruitful thanksgiving. The winter season is upon us, and the weather is growing colder. With the seasonal and H1N1 flu going around, we would like to remind everyone to be vigilant about their health. The school is providing hand sanitizers in the library and cafeteria for your convenience. We thank and wish everyone the best!
校園花絮 – 十二月份行事曆December Highlights:
• 12/06 and 12/13–正常上課日。課外活動照常。
December 6th and 13th are regular school days with extracurriculars after class.
• 12/20–正常上課日。靜思語教學。課外活動暫停。
December 20th is a regular school day. No extracurricular and Jing-Si Aphorisms lessons will be held after class instead.
• 12/27–耶誕節停課。
There will be no class on December 27th. Happy Holidays!
• 為響應全美慈濟人文學校籌劃 "送愛到海地助學計劃”。我們將開始舉辦"送文具到海地"活動。此次主要捐贈物資為文具用品，對象為海地兩所小學(貝松市瓜地馬拉小學、太陽城小學)及兩所孤兒院，約三千五百多位學生。美國慈濟總會將負責採購黑板、白板、課桌椅。為發揮校園點滴善的力量，希望讓學生也能一起響應。我們將鼓勵學生能夠捐贈自己用過，但仍可用或全新文具：如鉛筆(不要自動鉛筆)、橡皮擦、彩色筆、蠟筆、鉛筆盒、書包及筆記本給海地的孩子。懇請家長合作配合學校所發起此一活動：請與孩子分享泥餅影片

Tzu-Chi US is sponsoring a school supplies drive for the kids in Haiti. The school supplies that are collected will be donated to roughly 3,500 kids in two elementary schools and two orphanages in Haiti. Our school will also hold an event in December to encourage students to donate school supplies such as pencils (only non-mechanical pencils), erasers, markers, crayons, pencil boxes, notebooks, backpacks, etc. Tzu-Chi US will also donate blackboards, whiteboards, tables, and chairs to the schools in Haiti. We encourage parents and students to watch a brief documentary about life in Haiti (linked above). Your generosity will give the kids in Haiti a happier holiday.
學校會在12/20全體學生靜思語教學時以此為題分享海地泥餅故事，學生如有文具捐贈，請在12/20全體學生靜思語教學時拿到課堂一起投箱捐贈。感恩您!
During the Jing-Si Aphorisms lessons on 12/20, students will learn about life in Haiti. A donations stand will be set up in the cafeteria beginning on 12/20. Thank you.
學生園地 Student Activities:
• 本學年的校內學生演講說故事比賽預定在二零一零年一月舉行，優勝同學將可代表學校參加新英格蘭(四月初)與美東區(五月底)的競賽喔。請同學們預先準備。
The student speech and story-telling competition will be held in January 2010. Winners will represent our school at the New England and American East Chinese School Association competition. Students who would like to participate are encouraged to prepare in advance for the competition.
證嚴上人的叮嚀與靜思語 Master Cheng Yen’s Teaching and Jing-Si Aphorisms:
• 為了預防H1N1流感疫情持續擴大， 在此以證嚴法師年初的開示，再次提醒大家提高警覺、戒慎虔誠、防護自己、用愛保護。 並建議大家
o 減少出入公共場合，如有感冒症狀一定要謹慎就醫
o 勤洗手、打噴嚏時一定遮住口鼻（慈院醫師建議）
Avoid crowded spaces and busy locations. Consult a doctor immediately if you have any cold or flu symptoms.
Wash your hands with soap or hand sanitizer frequently. Cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve whenever you sneeze or cough.
• 靜思語: 心被煩惱綁住，必須自己來解，自己不解開煩惱結，就是佛在面前也無能為力
Even Buddha can not help you if you do not have the will to resolve your worries and troubles.

With the help of many parents, the Tzu-Chi loving parent team has been officially established. The team encourages and welcomes the involvement of all parents.
