校園花絮 – 一月份行事曆January Highlights:
• 1/10–12/20補課日。靜思語教學。課外活動暫停。
January 10th will be the makeup day for Jing-Si Aphorisms lessons canceled due to snowstorms. Jing-Si Aphorisms lessons will be held after class instead of extracurricular.
• 1/17 – 馬丁路德金博士紀念日停課一次。
There will be no class on January 17th due to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Happy Holidays everyone!
• 1/24–正常上課日。演講說故事比賽延期至2/21。第三堂課課外活動。
January 24th will be a regular school day. The Chinese speech/story-telling contest is postponed to 2/21. Extracurriculars will be held after class.
• 1/31–正常上課日 (期末考)。第三堂課課外活動。
January 31st will be a regular school day (Final exam). Extracurriculars will be held after class.
• 學校會在1/10 第三堂課舉辦全校靜思語教學，此次教學主題將針對送文具到海地活動作教學， 也請家長鼓勵同學將家裡多餘之文具（用過或全新的）於當天捐贈出來，學校收集後統一寄出。感恩您!
There will be a Jing-Si Aphorisms lesson on 1/10/10. The focus of the lesson will be to raise awareness about the School Supplies Drive for Kids in Haiti. Please encourage your children to donate their excess school supplies (new or used) to the drive. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thank you.
• 本周慈濟學校將會提供健康食品，CD，書籍和文具用品等零售服務，歡迎您參觀選購。
Tzu Chi office will set up a stand to sell health products and CD, books and stationery.
• 前兩次課程都因為暴風雪而取消，學校將會透過適當管道與家長和老師溝通後再決定補課日期。
Both 12/20/09 and 1/03/10 were cancelled due to snowstorm. School will consult with parents and teachers to determine an appropriate date for makeup class.
學生園地 Student Activities:
• 由於大雪停課緣故，本學年的校內學生演講說故事比賽順延到二零一零年二月二十一日舉行，優勝同學將可代表學校參加新英格蘭(四月初)與美東區(五月底)的競賽喔。如果同學們有需要協助修訂講稿或糾正語音，請向副校長或教務主任或其他校務人員查詢。如果有老師家長願意協助修訂講稿或糾正語音，也請聯絡副校長或教務主任或其他校務人員。感恩您!
Due to previous school cancelation, the student speech/story-telling competition is postponed in February 21, 2010. The winners will represent our school at the New England and American East Chinese School Association competitions that are held in April and May respectively. We are looking for volunteers to helping the winners in preparation for the competition. While everyone makes their wishes for the New Year, please do not forget those disabled and disadvantaged.
• 貪」為萬惡之源，世人為了貪求財富、名聲、美色……，往往蒙蔽了良知與智慧，造下種種惡事，最終不免承受苦果。
Greed is the source of all sins. In their pursuit of more wealth, fame, beauty, etc., people are blindsided, therefore, lose their conscience, and commit all sorts of sins. Eventually, they will have to endure the bitter fruits of their misdeeds.

In preparation for the Chinese New Year Celebration (2/7/2010!), we are looking for parent volunteers to help set up game booths and supply food and drinks. Your contributions and support are important to the success of this exciting event. Please contact Jeff Lin if you are interested in volunteering. We are looking for help in the following categories:
o Game Booths (at least 5 volunteers)
o Food contribution (at least 8 volunteers)
