Time flies! The 1st semester is coming to an end and the 2nd semester will be here soon. The school feels especially grateful for the great efforts by our teachers, parents and staff. The Halloween celebration, Xi-Fu fundraising station, Haiti school supply drive, etc. were all well organized and received. With support from Tzu Chi Boston office and Tzu-Ching, we are also continuing to make improvements to our Jing-Si Aphorisms teaching. Although we worked very hard, no doubt many could still be improved. If you have any suggestions for the school, please do not hesitate to contact school staff. Raising culturally sophisticated children is our common goal. Thank you!
因應海地大地震災民需求，人文學校於元月二十四日在學校餐廳設置募款箱，總共募得1007.98元。款項將交由慈濟統籌海地救災事宜。感恩您!
To help the earthquake victims in Haiti, the school had set up a donation stand on 1/24 at school cafeteria. A total of $1,007.98 was collected and given to the Tzu Chi Foundation for humanitarian efforts in Haiti. Thank you!

End of the 1st semester. There will be final exams on January 31st. Parents please help your child(ren) prepare for the exam. Extracurricular activities will be held after class as usual. The student Speech/Story-telling competition will take place on February 21, 2010 in three categories.
Kindergartner and Bilingual Junior class: Reading (Children’s folk songs) Competition
1st Grade and 2nd Grade: Story Telling Competition
3rd Grade and above: Speech Competition
The contestants will be judged according to the following criteria: pronunciation 30%, tones 30%, content 25%, and appearance 15%. Parents are encouraged to help students prepare the contents of their speech or story. Should you need assistance, please feel free to contact teachers or school staff.

To encourage the new generation to use calligraphy brushes and learn Chinese culture, the Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston will hold a ‘Welcome Spring Festival Joint Brush Activity’ calligraphy contest on 2/6/2010 (Saturday) from 10am to 2pm. Contestants will be divided into adult group, student group and non-Chinese group. The winners will be given awards and prizes by the organizers. The contestants can write freely, or use the materials prepared by the organizers and write couplets. All contestants must prepare their own brush and ink (the school can assist with preparing the supplies if needed). The organizers will provide red paper. Some parents from our school will bring their children to the events. If you are interested in observing or entering the contest (free of charge), please make a reservation with the school at 617-492-8499, so the organizers can prepare red envelopes to visitors and participants. Tzu Chi Boston chapter plans to hold a Chinese New Year Celebration at John Glenn Middle School at Bedford, MA. A “New Year: A Fresh Mind & New Life” exhibition will show you how to incorporate environmental consciousness into our daily life. Tea and light refreshment will be served after the program. One member in the Adult Tai Chi Class cannot continue with the lessons, and would like to offer the remaining class credits for sale. The remaining 15 class lasts from the beginning of February to the end of school year in June, from 10am to 11am every Sunday morning. The member would like to ask for $30 for the credit transfer. The money received from the transaction will be donated to the XiFu Station. Interested parties please contact XiFu Station personnel directly for details.
